All participants in Keweenaw Trail Running Festival start running on Eagle Harbor beach then hike trails in the backcountry forests of northern Keweenaw County. A breakfast consisting of local food is served after this event.

This marathon includes running 21 mi of Grand Island. The northern side of the island boasts 300-ft sandstone cliffs and exceptional views to Lake Superior. The trail used is primarily non-technical, but it includes a single track, two tracks and narrow dirt roads.
