Cadillac, MI at a Glance
Cadillac, a lakefront community in northern Michigan,
is surrounded by Lake
Mitchell and Lake
Cadillac. The two lakes are linked by a manmade canal, originally used by
lumbermen to float timber, but now used for fishing and boating. Visitors venture
to the nearby Huron-Manistee
National Forest to hike, camp and bike. Adventure
Island is another attraction to enjoy in the area as it has waterslides and
miniature golf. Located in Mitchell
State Park, Johnson
Hunting and Fishing Center exhibits a marsh display and a wall-size aquarium
filled with local Michigan fish. Among the major events in the area are July's
Keweenaw
Trail Running Festival and the Grand
Island Trail Marathon as well as October's Chestnut
Harvest Festival, where visitors learn all about the chestnut and taste chestnut-based
cuisine. Other activities include canoeing and camping at the Pine
and Manistee
Rivers as well as hiking, skiing and snowmobiling at Cadillac
Pathway, McGuire's
Resort and Caberfae
Peaks, one of Michigan's best skiing areas.
